Statement

Influenced by the relationship between built form and the natural world, my paintings often draw from the landscape. My artistic style is characterized by large tonal washes bound by geometric forms to create bold, immersive works. Texture and pattern find their way into the spaces between and often weave the collected moments together.

Color is fundamental to my work, serving as a functional, structural element. Experimentation and play bring energy, vitality and joy to my process. Evident in the spontaneous moments in my paintings where one color bleeds into another or a paint splatter becomes a central element of the composition.

Often focused on natural moments of transition and the impact of time, I explore weathering and human interaction over the physical world around us. I study these concepts in my work and view each painting as a captured moment where the viewer is invited to interpret the conversation between structure and spontaneity, finding moments of their own that spark familiarity, memory and story.
